For this conference, we have  assembled an impressive faculty of 6 eminently qualified and accomplished attorneys representing top-tier Hawaii law firms - to present a comprehensive 6-session employment law conference complemented by a special half-session "Ask An Attorney" Open Q&A Session featuring 2 Attorneys.providing answers to audience questions on various employment law issues.

The conference begins with a review & amalysis of recent changes and trends in Hawaii State employ-ment law, including Hawaii case decisions and their impact on employers plus hot legal issuses and litigation trends in 2019..

In following sessions, we narrow our focus to specific HR administrative issues, including an important review of the rules for content and retention of Employee Records - what to keep, where and, importantly, for how long and what employee actions are especially important to document for defense in potemtial law suits. Well also examine potential legal issues arising out of Joint Employee Relationships, how they may occur and what you can do to protect and defend your company should the need arise.

The afternoon sessions begin appropriately with a discussion of how to avoid potentially costly IRS issues through accurate Employee Classifications which clearly distinguish between Employees and Independent Contractors and how they are further distinguished through related payroll administration. The day progresses with an examination of the often confusing tangle of family leave issues created by ADA, FMLA & HFLL and, importantly, which law prevails when they intersect and under what conditions.  We end the day on a high note with an examination of how to avoid & defend Employee Harassment & Retaliation Complaints.

Six information-packed sessions, with the bonus "Ask An Attorney" Q&A half-session and a volume of legal opinion to guide you through the potential minefield of hiring and managing employees in 2019 & beyond.
